Seven Edits Weekly

Your Streamline Era: The Week of March 4th, 2024

Your Weekly Seven

Hey, you!

I’ve had a lot on my mind this past week and I thought I’d share in case it helps someone reading. Over the last few years, I’ve experienced tremendous loss. From divorce to a layoff, and everything in between, it seems there hasn’t been a moment to catch my breath.

But the biggest of all — the one that clings to my every thought — is the sudden death of a close friend. When he left, something in me imploded. I completely lost myself in grief (which connects to a spiderweb of other losses), for more than a year.

I’m just now starting to pull myself out of that pain, and it’s been hard. There are good days and bad. My friend would be so disappointed with how much time I’ve wasted missing him. So, I’ve promised him, and myself, that I’ll find my way back to that girl he met; to live again.

I hope this week’s suggestions help you get back to fully living, too.

This is your sign to take a few steps back from all the noise, breathe, and prioritize. Here are your top seven life edits for the week ~ one to tackle each day ~ so you’ll waste less time scrolling and more time L-I-V-I-N.

  • MONDAY BLUES: Mo Money, Less Problems

Tax season is upon us (*screams*) — but don’t stress. Some will automatically qualify for an extension, so double-check this list before you file!

  • TUESDAY, YOUSDAY: Do You, Baby

We’re all busy, but stress from work, kids, and commitments sometimes prevents us from being present in the moment with our loved ones. Ironically, that stress takes a toll on our own mental health, which is why you have to prioritize self-care. Here’s a thorough breakdown of how to make time for yourself, even when time is short.

  • LOVESICK WEDNESDAY: See? Romance Isn’t Dead (Yet)

Write a love note to your partner and make their day a little brighter. It doesn’t have to be lengthy to show your appreciation; a little note goes a long way. My husband likes to write something sweet on a Post-It and stick it on the bathroom mirror before work. Here are a few ideas to get you started.

  • TAKE ACTION THURSDAY: Just Do It Already

Are you a chore avoider or an angry cleaner (both here!)? Discover your “cleaning personality” to tackle your spring cleanout without getting overwhelmed (or losing your mind).

  • FRIDAY FEAST: No Complaints Dinner Picky Eaters Will Love

My kids live for this chicken tortilla soup! You probably have most of the ingredients on hand and it comes together fast. Or, throw it in the crockpot and shred the chicken at the end for a no-fuss Friday meal. Bonus: This recipe includes simple homemade tortilla strips — do not sleep on these!

  • SATURDAZE: Do Something Fun, Would Ya?

This week, throw a family game night for an inexpensive good time. With my kids getting older, it’s getting harder to find things to do to connect. We love to play a classic game of Uno, or my son’s favorites like Butts in Space, but any game will do. Bonus: Make individual homemade pizzas with this two-ingredient dough for everyone to decorate. Quality time for the win!

  • SUNDAY WISDOM: The Experts Says…

This week’s TLDR motivation: Helen & Margaret from Uncle Neil’s Home Sanctuary. I previously wrote about the sanctuary’s rescue ram, Huxley for The Dodo. Watch as a sweet, blind rescue cow meets another rescue cow for an instant mood boost.

A match made in heaven.
